A lot of viewers will likely dislike, if not downright hate, Antonioni's 137 minute L'avventura; it's slow, deliberate, relatively uneventful, and has an unsatisfying conclusion. But nearly every second of this study in loneliness, isolation and indifference had me glued to the screen. An early masterpiece from one of the great Italian filmmakers.
